PARIS, FRANCE –LaCie, a leading provider of professional storage solutions, today announced a partnership with Downtown Community Television Center (DCTV), the most honored independent nonprofit media center in the nation. This partnership will showcase LaCie’s latest enterprise-level storage solutions while providing a custom storage environment that meets the rigorous demands of DCTV’s educational and Emmy Award-winning film production.
By integrating enterprise class storage solutions into DCTV’s downtown Manhattan studio, LaCie helps facilitate the introduction of electronic media through free or low-cost production courses and access to broadcast-quality production equipment. LaCie products like the 4big Quadra currently populate DCTV’s Historic Firehouse studio, as well as the recent integration of the 12big Rack Fibre – providing cutting-edge 4Gb/s fibre channel connections to the students and the staff.
“For LaCie it is imperative we demonstrate the high performance and capabilities of our enterprise storage solutions with the film community in New York City,” said Jim Davis VP of US Sales. “Now, with the integration of our latest 12big Fibre solution, we can show our customers real-time workflow and performance results, while providing DCTV a robust platform for education and production.”
The prevalence of digital formats, accompanying the fast retirement of tape archival, means the need for reliable digital storage is impacting every strata of video production. LaCie’s 12big Fibre will enable DCTV to support 12TB of storage capacity, as well as four independent workstations – running demanding software such as Final Cut Pro and Smoke – with the fastest transfer speeds in the industry.
“LaCie has been a long-time supporter of DCTV, providing reliable storage solutions for video edit and asset archival, while greatly broadening our production capabilities,” said Jon Alpert, DCTV Co-Founder and Co-Director. “We are excited to strengthen our partnership with LaCie and become a trusted studio for validating the company’s latest high-performance storage solutions by putting them through our rigorous video production processes.”
