NEW YORK – May 21, 2007 – The 8th Annual Golden Trailer Awards – irreverently dubbed the “Academy Awards for the short-attention spanned” – will be hosted by Jeff Garlin, the man behind the irresistible, long-suffering manager Jeff Greene of HBO’s award-winning Curb Your Enthusiasm. The Golden Trailers, whose express-lane program will run a fleeting 80 minutes under the watchful eye of Mr. Garlin, will be held at New York University’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in on Thursday, May 31 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at 212-279-4200 or at www.goldentrailer.com.
Garlin wrote, directed and stars in the upcoming independent film I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With, which opens this fall (IFC Films) and co-stars Bonnie Hunt and Sarah Silverman. He is also co-star and executive producer of the critically acclaimed Curb Your Enthusiasm, which returns for a new season on HBO this fall.
Garlin was overwhelmed by his selection as the show’s official host, saying, “I’m overwhelmed that I was selected.”
Impressively active both in front of and behind the camera, comedian Garlin spent three seasons on NBC-Television’s Mad About You, had his own HBO half-hour special, and has appeared in and/or directed many other shows and films, including: Unleavened, Lock-n-Load, Full Frontal, Daddy Day Care, Everybody Loves Raymond, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and many others. In addition, he has written and starred in the critically acclaimed solo shows Uncomplicated and Concentrated.
Born and raised in Chicago and then South Florida, Garlin studied filmmaking and began performing stand-up comedy while at the University of Miami. He has toured the country as a stand-up, and is an alumnus of Chicago’s Second City Theatre. Garlin’s hobbies include eating puddin’ and taking naps.
Evelyn Brady and Monica Brady founded The Golden Trailer Awards in 1999.
