Maxell Embraces Dallas Video Festival
High Definition Projects Grow on Cost Efficiency; Festival Features include HD Shootout and Randall Dark Production, Closing Escrow

FAIR LAWN, N.J., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Maxell Corporation of America, the technology and marketing leader in advanced data storage media, will partake in this year's 19th Annual Dallas Video Festival produced by the Dallas Video Association, August 8-13. This is Maxell's first year as a sponsor in the festival which is expected to attract 5000 film enthusiasts and industry professionals.
Maxell will partake as an overall sponsor of the Dallas Video Festival and two specific programs. The HD Shootout, a forum that compares side-by-side a documentary shot using various High Definition cameras and Film. Maxell will also sponsor the screening of Closing Escrow, a comedy about real estate that focuses on three quirky families and their unconventional real estate agents as they vie in a riotous bid war.
"The quality of HD and its cost effectiveness is being embraced by both professional and indie filmmakers, which allows everyone to experience an increasing volume of new works of art," said Anthony Petruzziello, director of sales for Maxell's Professional Media Products Division. The Executive Producer on Closing Escrow is Randall Dark, a leader in the High Definition (HD) industry. Randall convinced Directors Armen Kaprelian and Kent Llewellyn to shoot their first feature in HD. Closing Escrow was shot entirely on Maxell tape, using 62 Maxell HDCAM tapes and 3 Maxell D-5 tapes.
"The cost effectiveness of HD breaks down the monetary barriers that used to keep young, unknown directors and producers from seeing their ideas and creations make it to the big screen," said Randall Dark. "HD technology and media is really opening the doors for filmmakers and allowing them to follow their imaginations."

The HD Shootout is scheduled for Thursday, August 10, 2006 at 7 PM, Angelika 2 theatre.
The premiere of Closing Escrow is schedule for August 9, 2006 at 9 PM, Angelika 1 theatre.
