New York, NY -- IFC Films has announced the details for the release of Academy Award winning director Steven Soderbergh’s epic CHE starring Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro.  The company will take advantage of its unique position in the industry and offer the film in a variety of formats that include theatrical and video on demand.

The film will have its west coast premiere as the Centerpiece of the AFI Film Festival on Saturday, November 1st at 6 p.m.  The screening will be held at the Grauman Chinese Theater and was one of the festival’s first to sell out.  Steven Soderbergh, Benicio Del Toro and the rest of the cast will be on hand to present the film.

Rose Kuo, Artistic Director, “CHE is a portrait of a revolutionary adventurer trying to leave his mark on history by an American director who has sought to tackle every new style and leave an indelible mark on filmmaking, and in so doing, Steven Soderbergh has managed to create a portrait of an artist.  What better way to showcase this work than for AFI FEST to host a truly historic film event in LA by presenting the film in it in its entirety at Grauman's Chinese.”

The full-length roadshow version CHE, will be released as a special 1 week event on December 12th in New York City at the Ziegfeld Theater and in Los Angeles at The Landmark.  This special presentation will feature a printed program guide to be distributed at each screening and will also be presented digitally utilizing DCP Projection.  On Opening night, Steven Soderbergh will appear for a Q&A in New York and Benicio Del Toro and producer Laura Bickford will appear in Los Angeles.  There will be no trailers or commercials played prior to the screenings. Run time for Part 1 - 129 minutes and Part 2 - 128 minutes with a 30 minute intermission.   In New York, there will also be an exhibition of cast portraits taken by Mary Ellen Mark.

CHE will re-open on January 9th in New York and Los Angeles as two separate admissions titled CHE PART 1:  THE ARGENTINE and CHE PART 2:  GUERRILLA.  A national rollout will follow to the top 25 markets on January 16th and 22nd with further expansions planned.  The 2 parts will be released simultaneously in each market.

On January 21st, IFC will also make the separate parts available on IFC In Theaters, its video on demand platform.  The 2 parts will be available in 50 million homes nationwide on all major cable and satellite providers in both standard and high definition versions.

Jonathan Sehring, President of IFC Films commented, “CHE is truly an event to be experienced.  Steven Soderbergh has delivered one of our generation’s true epic films featuring an absolutely brilliant performance by Benicio Del Toro as one of the most fascinating figures in our history.  We wanted people to see this as Steven Soderbergh intended in its entirety but also to have many options to do so.  It was an absolute thrill to see people’s response to the film at both Toronto and New York Film Festivals. “

CHE which is produced by Laura Bickford and Benicio Del Toro.  The film stars Demian Bichir, Rodrigo Santoro, Santiago Cabrera, Matt Damon, Julia Ormond, Catalina Sandino Moreno.
